The VAB is one of largest buildings in the world. It covers 8 acres, is 525 ft tall, and has over 3.6 million cubic feet of space. Ivey’s scope of work included the demolition of the existing fire protection systems in the VAB and diesel and electric fire pumps in the VAB, LCC, and Utility Annex. The design of a new fire protection service, the installation of new diesel and electric motor driven fire pumps, controllers, auto-transfer switches, piping, power, fire alarm, extension of water mains. The refurbishment of a 1.4 million-gallon water storage tank. The project features the replacement of over 20,000 lineal feet of fire protection supply piping.
