Under a design-build contract with STS Aviation Services, Ivey’s Construction designed and built two aircraft maintenance hangars at the Melbourne Orlando International Airport, which were completed in 2021. The project included the new construction of two 150 ft. wide x 205 ft. tensile fabric structures that were built adjacent to each other for aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul.

The 62,000 sq. ft. steel framed facility, which meets Florida’s wind-borne debris building code requirements, is equipped with three-panel Megadoor systems, each with 130 ft. wide unobstructed openings that provide flexibility and easy access for the aircraft entering the facility. The work on the MRO Hangars was performed in an active air operations area and included a foam fire suppression system for fueled aircraft and plane wash with environmentally vetted waste.
