Ivey’s Construction was the Construction Manager of the Rocket Garden Coatings Project at the KSC Visitor Complex. The scope of work consisted of surface preparation and recoating of four full scale display rockets. Work included providing research and documentation of existing conditions of four rockets, the Saturn 1B, displayed horizontally, as well as the Mercury Redstone, Juno 1 and the Atlas Agena rockets, all displayed vertically. Due to the rocket heights, the project required boom lifts with 120 foot access. Ivey’s also provided structural repairs to the rocket supports, as well as rocket repairs due to corrosion of the existing metals.
