Ivey’s installed the 43’ long, 2,000-pound vintage submarine periscope for the Brevard Veterans Memorial Center at their museum in Merritt Island. This periscope was used in Sturgeon-class submarines from 1967 to 2004, in service for a period of 37 years. The periscope is installed in working order, to give museum visitors a close-up view of the surroundings, as submariners did in years past from this very same periscope.

Ivey’s was honored to head-up this project, and quickly assembled a team of local subcontractors, along with our own crew, who were all quick to volunteer their services for this task.  We appreciate those subcontractors, who graciously donated their time, materials and equipment to support this noteworthy project:

  • Beyel Brothers, Inc. – Provided the crane and crane operator.
  • Industrial Steel, Inc. – Fabricated miscellaneous steel to support the periscope.
  • Hamilton Roofing, Inc. – Provided roof penetration, flashings, and roof repairs.
