This project consists of the renovation and construction of 5,534 square feet of the Intake and Release Areas and Staff Dining Area at the Brevard County Detention Center.

The structure of the work is existing concrete walls for the exterior and interior bearing walls, in addition there will be reinforced concrete block masonry bearing walls. All inmate cells shall be reinforced to meet Florida Correctional Institution Standards.

Interior finishes include sealed concrete floor slabs with vinyl tile and ceramic tile in select rooms. Interior concrete wall surfaces will be painted in most locations. Exposed ceiling structures will also be painted, with some areas scheduled to receive acoustical ceiling tile. Inmate holding cells will have a cast in place concrete ceiling while the remaining ceiling areas will receive impact resistant drywall ceiling.

The HVAC system includes new air-handler units and associated metal ductwork. Exhaust fans will serve throughout the facility and a new kitchen exhaust hood is required in the new Staff Dining Area. The plumbing system includes concealed piping, penal style fixtures in inmate holding areas and standard porcelain fixtures in non-inmate areas. The renovated areas shall be fully sprinklered for fire protection with security style sprinkler heads in inmate areas. The electrical system includes new power and lighting requirements. A new communication and data system will be installed and tied into the main jail complex computer network. New security cameras and electronic door control systems are scheduled for the booking and release inmate holding cells.
