The SLC 3 East project converted an existing Atlas 3 Launch Complex to launch the new Atlas 5 rocket. This fast tracked project involved removing the top 40 feet of the existing Mobile Service Structure (MST), and fabricating and erecting 3500 Tons of new steel to add back 100 feet to make the tower 60 feet taller. Ivey’s work also included the miscellaneous steel erection; the siding procurement and installation; the removal, modification, and reinstallation of the movable platforms; the fabrication and installation of the exterior sliding doors; and the removal and installation of a new bridge crane. Ivey’s also performed the installation of all reinforcing steel on the project.
