The project involved the sandblasting and painting of approx. 700,000 SF of Launch Complex 39A; miscellaneous steel refurbishment; the removal, refurbishment, and reinstallation of the two 50,000 lb. Orbital Weather Protection Doors; the replacement of the upper bearing assembly on the RSS; the jacking of the RSS, up to 600kips, for the installation of reinforcing plates; the refurbishment of two elevators; and the removal of the original lightning mast and the installation of a new FRP lightning mast. Ivey’s Construction self performed all structural steel erection, heavy rigging, and concrete work.
